to MRSKAT please learn something "stripped" is not a fancy way of saying bleaching, it is using COLOUR REMOVER to remove the artificial pigment out of the hair which will have to be used in this case. i suggest using either colorfix colour remover by robert craig if you live in america and schwarzkopf igora phantom if you live in the uk. it will NOT take you back to your natural colour but will leave you with orange hair, but at this point i would sugget using a light ash brown on your hair like 75 light ash brown by clairol loving care. the ash will neutralise the orange leaving you with neutral brown hair.

Well I did that in college and you are headed down a long expensive road. I had to get my hair professionally stripped which is a fancy word for bleached. Then I had it dyed back to my original hair color. The guy was nice to me and only charged me 75 bucks but if you go to a nicer place, you'll pay a lot more than that. Don't do that again....it took my hair like 2 years to recover. I have brown hair as well.

well, in drug stores (like cvs) sell these products that reverse the effects of dying your hair and make it go back to your natural color. there are numerous brands each with their own price range. they're usually in the aisle where they sell the shampos or hair dye. of that doesn't work, you could always dye it back.

If you are willing to pay $$$ (or if you have a very good friend that does hair professionally and will help you out), you can go to a salon to have the color stripped, which will leave it a yellow/orange color, then you have it colored whatever color you want (in your instance, brown). Your hair will be very dead/dry/unhealthy for a while.

You could possibly fade it by washing it with a lot of laundry detergent... but it won't fade to brown, just lighter black.

It's very hard to "return" from black once you've went there. Good luck!

To be honest you dont want to do anything apart from washing it a lot, head and shoulders shampoo is supposed to be good for helping to make the colour fade. After one month the colour will have faded and will be back brown, just sit it out. if you put any more colours or colour strips on your hair it will ruin it!!! black hair is better than badly damaged brown hair, belive me.

the best thing to do is wait it out until the black is away from your scalp because dying it brown would run the risk of messing up your hair really really bad - black is the worse to get out ask any professional when you must go to dye back your hair brown unless you know someone who is one. don't just ask anyone at the store near the dye department because the odds of them knowing or wanting to tell you the truth are slim to none.

Tawnee is correct they do sell a product that will remove the dye from your hair or at least prep it for you to put the correct color on it. Revlon makes a good one it is an white box with red lettering can't remember the exact name but it tells you what it is for. Also if you do not want to take the chance of messing up your hair then black hair dye fades over time with washing it or you could go swimming in a clorinated pool then wash your hair and this will speed up the process.

The hairdresses know best. Go to a decent one, ask them their advice. They might offer to bleach it, but bleach messes your hair up big time! If they can do something, they will. Hair grows about half an inch every month so a combination of that and it washing out, it could go back to looking brownish sooner than you think! Least you didn't die it red!
