Are there natural hair colors more likely to go gray than others?

I have heard that red heads gray early, but my sister is dark headed and she turned gray in her twenties.

Perhaps it has more to do with genetics then specific hair coloring.

No. Going grey is something that is inherited. You may think that dark hair goes grey most often, but this is only in appearance because the contrast between black or dark brown, and grey is so much more than the contrast between blonde and grey.

On the contrary, red hair is the most colorfast pigment, although it may change in age. I have a lot of red-haired relatives. My mother's auburn looks kind of muddy now, but it's not white. Her sister was strawberry blonde, now it looks pink. Her brother was flaming orange, now he looks blonde. But none of them are gray or white.

I always thought dark hair had the msot tendency to gray.
