First off I'm NOT saying that ALL black women act in this matter. Anyway I have locs, that's me my 360 pic. A lot of times when I go out among black women I constantly get just out right dirty looks. They look at my hair first and then roll their eyes. I often go out with another friend who wears a big afro and we that even more. I do not understand that! I never give dirty looks to black women who choose to perm/relax their hair, I personally don't care what other women do with their hair.

I think women are nasty to each other sometimes in general. I don't think its because of your locks. Then again, I live in New York where we really don't care about other people too much, but I have traveled other places and people are really weird about that kind of stuff. Either way ignore the haters.

Some women are just catty and petty...I have naturally wavy hair and have been wearing natural (no chemicals or straighteners) for the last four years..I get alot of questions about what type of perm or relaxer I get...when I explain that this is my natural hair texture...Alot of women (several races) hate and claim that I am lying or that my hair is weave...To be honest it used to bother me at first...but now i just laugh it off...Why be upset or obsessed with someone else hair...It really shows a woman's maturity level if that's all they want to discuss...So just ignore them and be glad you have the common sense not to be that petty.

Bc it brings out the securities in some of them. Then it destroys the myth that "natural hair is just impossibe to manage for black women". I LOVVEEE the way natural hair looks on black women. But, in their defense its harder for them to get jobs, %26amp; many black men don't like it bc of brainwashing/ignorance. Altho ironicly I'm seeing more black professional men with 'locs.

Because they were taught by their ancestors who were taught by racist white people that our natural hair is ugly and that we should always relax it or keep it hidden because it defies the beauty standards of this country.

Some black women also think that black women who wear their natural hair are trying to 'make a statement' and are attempting to convert others into doing the same.

If you're bold enough, next time you get a look, ask them how much money they spend on their hair in a year and why they think they have to do it. I'll bet you anything they couldn't answer you that.

I'm starting to wear my hair natural now as well. It really shouldn't be a big deal. Most white people wear their hair natural and no one gives them a fuss about it.

I think that some times people misconstrues this for tiring to be white, or they think their better then others, as seen on judge Mathis he said that he is tired of it. He said every time a African American comes in his court room and starters saying: she acts white. because she addresses her self in a professional light. she speaks white. because she speaks correctly. Or she dresses white. Because she dresses nicely and looks presentable. None of which is true. many white people do not act,speak or dress that way. he said it is some one "seeking perfection" White people are not the only ones in this country that can seek perfection. and I agree with him. but your hair looks hot! you look great. big time so you are right not to care about what other women think. because all the men are looking for sure.

Please don't be offended by my response. I was relaxed, went natural, and now I'm relaxed again. That being said...

Some people don't know how to rock a natural. I was one of them. For the life of me, I couldn't find a natural hair style that complimented my face. As I result, I looked unattractive and "earned" those dirty looks. When I was natural, I couldn鈥檛 pull a dude to save my life. Now that I鈥檓 back on the creamy crack, I鈥檓 a model�?br>

My point, it may not be because you are natural that you are getting the strange looks. It may be because your hair style does not compliment you. From your pic, you're attractive, but think back... the days you got dirty looks, did you look a mess? Be honest!

It takes a LOT of confidence to pull of a natural look, especially since you are going against the societal imposed view of normal. Maybe the world isn't ready for you, or maybe your hair wasn't ready for the world.
