Try Jam, Extra Strength. It's a brown gel too, so it won't make you all flakey. It's excellent for braiding too, if you get that done.

Try aloe vera gel.. It's alcohol free and doesn't flake and unlike some gels it can be used with your moisturizer and will hold just as well. Hope this helps. Peace.
