It doesn't matter..just be careful on which color glaze you get..DO NOT GET THE CLAIROL HAIR GLAZE!! I used the brown type on my red hair and it turned it Green, it was awful.

However, the John Frieda is really good, its a little more expensive, but worth it! I haven't used the Sunsilk kind yet.

But John Frieda will give your hair a light tint, whether it is colored or not, so long as you use it a few times a week.

I think both. I use John Frieda and i don't have colored hair. I think you can use it on colored to though..

i like john frieda's brilliant brunette...i'm a natural brunette, had dyed it red for years, then dyed it back to its natural color to let it grow out...it's worked on the part of my hair that was dyed brown as well as the new brown growth at the roots...
