My hair is brown, but I like it ash blonde. I have a sensitive scalp and worry about the chemicals in hair dye.

Try putting lemon juice in your hair and go in the sun to naturally lighten your hair. For a highlight effect, section your hair in to six or so sections and put it in buns and then put the lemon juice on it, don't allow it to completely saturation, just ths surface.

If your hair is very dark, you can't lighten it to blond without bleach, which is obviously not good for very sensitive skin. You should be able to lighten a few shades though, with regular hair dyes. Non-permanent brands (wash out in 12-28 shampoos) are going to be less harsh than permanent dyes, but you'll have to dye more often. If you're worried about a particular brand, just do the patch test that is recommended in the instructions. If you react, don't use the product. You may also want to consult with a colourist to see if there are natural dyes you can use. Good luck!
